Guide to Installing Motorized Roller Shades
You have
purchased a brand new roller shade which has been custom manufactured as per
your specifications. If you go through
following suggestions before you start unwrapping, it would make it easy for
you to install. Once the motorized blinds installation is done properly, the blinds will give you years of trouble free service.
Before starting the work with tools, it is important to take care to protect
your eyes.
Once you
unpack, it is important to check whether all parts are there as per the list.
The roller shades are usually shipped with all the items needed for installing
them and they are checked for proper alignment before shipping. The mounting
methods include inside mount, outside mount and ceiling mount. First determine
your mounting method.
For inside
mount, ensure that the roller shade does not make contact with the with window
frame when it is raised and lowered. The brackets are to be mounted inside the
window frame and care has to be taken so that they are both in level and
aligned correctly. Once this is done
correctly, the shades will move smoothly on these brackets.
If you are
mounting the roller shade on the ceiling ensure that the shade does not contact
the ceiling when operated. The mount
brackets are to be properly positioned on the ceiling for this. Align them correctly and in level with each
other. For free rotation of the roller
shade mechanism, you should have an extra 1/8” space in between the brackets.
When you are
mounting the shade on the outside also you need to make sure that there is no
obstruction when they are raised or lowered.
While mounting the brackets you have to see that they are leveled and aligned
perfectly. Here also it would be wise to
give a space of 1/8” between the brackets for free movement of the shade
mechanism.
If you have a continuous loop roller shade,
then after mounting the brackets place the plastic inserts into the
bracket. Then you can install the shade
in these plastic brackets and fix the round pins. After this you can fine tune the alignments
by removing the clutch cover and adjusting the position of the chain stop.
Similarly for
the spring roller also you need to insert the round end pin inside the circle
hole and put the other end in the other bracket. To tighten the spring you need
to lower the shade 16” from the top. Now you can take off the shade from the
brackets and roll. See that the spring
is not too tight to damage the roller.
