What are Motorized Shades and Electric Blinds

Window shades that are attached to a power motor are known as motorized shades. It is possible to adjust the shades with the help of a computerized timer or a remote control. It is also easy to lower or raise the shades. Motorized shades have four main benefits including design options, convenience, location and size.

Convenience is the biggest advantage of motorized shades. When you use these shades there is no need to adjust or control them physically. It is standard to get a remote control device with these shades. You can install a computerized system to adjust based on the sun light entering through the window. This allows better control over the level of light.
Shades are available in standard sizes. Motorized shades are made with a thicker roll and are not limited by width or length of the window. This feature has made them especially popular for boardrooms and offices. Typically such rooms have customised windows and regular shades do not fit here.
When motorized shades are used the placing of the shades is not restricted due to its proximity from ground level. There is no need to adjust the shades manually and motorized shades are a wonderful option for very high windows. They can be adjusted as required and this is an advantage for big homes and public buildings.
It is possible to install these shades within the window itself. With motorised control of the shade there is no practical requirement to make it accessible. This option helps in reducing dust, remove the need to clean shade as well as offer a sleek look to the window design.
Motorized control is a great option for custom shades as they offer much more flexibility in managing the design and height. There is a consistent pressure with the motor allowing delicate material and more complex design in the shade. You can select the materials for the shades according to your needs.

When you are choosing a motorized shade, check out the motor design, size and location. Analyse how this will be integrated in the decor shape of the room to maintain the visual appeal of the room and window. It is good to find out the motor warranty as well as the technology required to repair the motor if required. Ensure the location of the installation so that it is easy to access and maintain the motor.

Covering Your Skylights With Electric Blinds

How to Take Full Advantage of Your Skylights

Houses with a number of skylights have an inherent beauty and attraction.  Large Widow walls with angled skylights helps you to take full benefit of the natural beauty outside, especially if your house is situated in a scenic location or a lakeside.  These skylights also bring in lot of light and sun and you can also have a peek at the night sky after sunset.

Nevertheless, there is an inherent drawback of having huge angled skylight, especially during summer months.  These skylights can bring in excessive amount of sunlight and heat when the sun is high in the sky resulting in a steep increase in your air-conditioning and cooling costs.  When uncovered, these skylights can also cause loss of heat during winter.

The solution to this problem would be to install proper coverings to the skylights so that it can prevent excessive heat during summer and heat loss during winter.  You also need have adequate control over the light coming inside to maintain ambient illumination inside the rooms.  The ideal way to do this would be to install electric roof blinds, screens or shades on the skylights.

The advantage of having motorized blinds, shades or screens is that they provide you full control over the airflow, lighting and heat radiation through the skylights.   You can choose from a variety of materials including those which provide UV protection, clear visibility or opacity according to your specific needs.

For blocking out excessive sunlight and heat you can use motorized block-out blinds or shades which can be operated with remote control.  This helps you to adjust the lighting and heat to suit your comfort which is a blessing in summer.

During summer, the excessive heat coming in the house without adequate ventilation can cause the heat to trap inside the house creating a feeling of being inside an oven.  You can avoid this by installing both shades and screens on the skylights to allow free air flow.  By opening these shades and blinds, especially those near the ceilings at both sides of the house you can allow the heated air to go out and bring in cool air by cross ventilation.

Having motorised skylight shades and screens would also help you to maintain the temperature and lighting inside your house or atrium effortlessly by pressing a few buttons on your remote control. This would help you to grow and nurture plants inside your house even in the peak summer.
